John Russell Norton, 93, of Rison, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026 at The Blossoms in Star City, AR.
He was born December 13, 1932 to the late Jean and Virginia Wilson Norton. He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.
John was the founding member of Norton Hunting Club, a member of the Cleveland County Cattleman’s Association and National Rifle Association. He loved hunting, fishing, and was an avid gardener.
Also preceding him in death are his first wife, Ann Norton, second wife, Doris Norton, a daughter, Cheryl Norton, a brother, Billy Gene Norton, his sister, Evelyn McCoskey, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Russell Norton (Karen) and Gene Norton (Lydia) both of Rison, three daughters; Deana Norton Taylor (Phillip) of Pine Bluff, Carol Norton Watkins (Jeff) of Rison, and Johnetta Norton Underwood of Fort Smith, three brothers; Donald Norton of Pine Bluff, Jimmy Norton (Glenda) of Pine Bluff, and Jackey Norton (Kathy) of Rison, four sisters; Helen Kulbeth of North Little Rock, Doris Vailes (John) of Pine Bluff, Judy Gibbs of England, and Ruth Ann Norton of Pine Bluff, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 29, 2026 in Wesley Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Dewayne Coats officiating.
