Michael Wayne Cherry, 72 of Star City, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023 at The Springs of Camden Health and Rehab.
He was born December 9, 1950 in Monticello to the late William “Bill” and Hollie Mae Caldwell Cherry.
He was a member of Cornerville Missionary Baptist Church, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Army from 19701973, was a retired Ordinance Disposal Specialist at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, and was a free mason. Mike was a member of the Cornerville Volunteer Fire Department, loved to do mechanic work, hunt, fish and woodworking.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Cherry.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sandra Gibson Cherry of Star City; 2 sons, Alan (Melissa) Cherry of Grady and David Cherry of Star City; 4 grandchildren, Garrett Cherry, Caden Cherry, Brennan Cherry, and Dresden Cherry; and his aunt and uncle, Gay Cole and Horace Cherry, both of Monticello.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Randall Baker officiating.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial at Cornerville.
