Bears Stay Active Over Christmas

PARKERS CHAPEL Smackover took control in the fourth quarter as the Class 3A Buckaroos overcame at halftime deficit to pull out a 52-43 win over the Woodlawn Bears in the second round of the Parkers Chapel Tournament last week. Woodlawn Coach Logan Adair said the Bears were up 2422 at the half before the Buckaroos pulled ahead in the third before winning the fourth quarter 15-8 margin to secure the win. The loss spoiled as career-high 25 points from junior Raylon Lawson, who had three 3-pointers on the night. The non-conference loss dropped Woodlawn to 6-6 on the season. The Bears are 1-1 in 8-2A conference play. Woodlawn 72, Smackover JV 42 PARKERS CHAPEL - Woodlawn had its best game of the season from behind the arch as Bears hit 10 3-pointers in a 72-42 blowout of the Smackover junior varsity in the first round of the Parkers Chapel Tournament. Caleb Martin hit six treys to lead Woodlawn with 21 points, his best performance of the season. Raylon Lawson followed with 18, including two 3-pointers. Lake Village 41, Woodlawn 32 BAUXITE - Lake Village took advantage of Woodlawn's slow start in the second half as the Beavers had the upper hand in the final two quarters for a 41-32 victory over the Bears in nonconference action Dec. 21 in the Bauxite Tournament. Woodlawn was clinging to a 20-19 lead at the half when the Bears managed just two points in the third quarter. Lake Village took the lead and pulled away from there. Bears Coach Logan Adair pointed out that Woodlawn hit just eight of 21 free throw attempts in the game. Raylon Lawson led the Bears with 12 followed by Jaxson Martin with eight.
