Boswell, Dupuy All-State; 7 Other 'Cats All Conference

RISON - In a season where it seemed that so many different players came up with big plays for the blue-collar Rison Wildcats, 11 members of the team have been recognized with honors following an 11-1 campaign which included the 6-3A Conference championship and semifinal finish in the state playoffs after upsetting then No. 1 ranked Prescott in the quarterfinals. Seven of the 11 players being recognized are seniors. According to Rison head coach Clay Totty, named to the Class 3A All-State team for the 2022 season were two-way lineman, Roger Boswell, 5'11, 240 pounds, who was also tabbed as the top defensive lineman of the year in the 6-3A Conference, and Bradyn Dupuy, 6'0, 193pound, running back/linebacker. Both Boswell and Dupuy are seniors. Boswell was a first team All-Conference selection a year ago; Dupuy a second team All-Conference member in 2021. Totty said that senior quarterback/safety/kicker Blaine Dixon, 6'0, 153 pounds, was Honorable Mention All-State along with his first team All-Conference selection. Dixon was a second team All-Conference choice in 2021. Also selected for first team All-Conference honors were seniors Avery Hopson, DJ Kines, Trevion Johnson and Dolten Yardley; and a pair of juniors, ZaKyler Walker and Cole Dedman. Choices for second team All-Conference, according to Totty, were juniors Treyvione Wainwright and Ryan Cottrell. Along with senior teammate Johnson, Boswell helped to anchor the offensive line from an end position. However, excelling on defense, it was noted that Boswell caught much attention from opposing teams, many times being held in his charge to get into the backfield. Boswell was credited with 51.5 tackles, 2 pass breakups, 15 quarterback pressures, 2 sacks, 10 tackles for losses, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 blocked punt that he returned for a touchdown against Dollar-way.
