DEWITT - Rison scored five runs off four errors, two walks, a single and a hit batter in the top of the fourth as the Wildcats pulled off a 6-2 win over the DeWitt Dragons in an big 8-3A conference clash last Friday at DeWitt.Rison and Dewitt are considered to be two of the top contenders for the 8-3A regular season championship this sesaon. The Wildcats improved to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in league play with the win, while the Dragons fell to 3-1 in conference after the loss.Dragon starting pitcher Wyatt Jones gave up just one hit and two walks over 3-2/3rd innings on the mound, but the senior hit five batters along the way.Four of those hit batters came in the top of the second as Andrew Courture, Ayden Laws and Brayden Terry were all hit by pitches to load the bases with one out. Then after the second out, Aaron Tilley was hit by another pitch to give the ‘Cats a 1-0 lead.The Dragons used back-to-back hits in the bottom of the third to push a run across to tie the game, 1-1.Then in the fourth, Rison broke it open with four runs, all coming with two out.After the lead-off batter struck out, James Jacobs and Terry both reached on errors. After another strikeout for the second out, Tilley drew a walk to load the bases. An error on Lawson Kidd’s grounder allowed Jacobs’ courtesy runner, Kyson Walker, to score and then another DeWitt error on Mason Weaver’s fly ball let Terry and Tilley both cross home plate to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead.Ethan Saeler then lined into left for a hit, driving in Kidd to extend Rison’s lead to 5-1.Couture was then hit by pitch to load the bases and Laws drew a walk to push another run across giving the ‘Cats a 6-1 lead.The Dragons’ final run came off an error and double in the bottom of the fifth.Saeler was the winning pitcher for Rison, scattering four hits while walking five, He had five strikeouts over the 4-1/3rd innings of the game.
