MONTICELLO - The Class 4A Camden Fairview Junior Cardinals had too much firepower for the Woodlawn Junior Bears as they rolled to a 48-27 non-conference win in the second round of the Drew Central Junior High Tournament last Wednesday.
Woodlawn led 9-5 at the end of the first quarter but Fairview won the second quarter 15-2 to take a 20-11 lead at halftime. The Junior Cardinals controlled the final two quarters as well.
Jude Roberts finished with 21 points for the Junior Bears.
Woodlawn 36, Hermitage 24
MONTICELLO - Woodlawn built a five-point lead in the first quarter and slowly pulled away from there as the Junior Bears knocked off the Hermitage Junior Hermits, 36-24, in the final round of the Drew Central Tournament at Monticello.
The Junior Bears led 9-4 at the end of the first quarter before the Junior Hermits played them even in the second. Woodlawn won both the third and fourth quarters to get the win.
Jude Roberts paced Woodlawn with 19 points followed by Jake Allred with 14.
Woodlawn 49, Harmony Grove 13
WOODLAWN - Jake Allred nailed four 3-pointers in the first half as the Woodlawn Junior Bears blew out the Harmony Grove Junior Hornets, 49-13, in a non-conference matchup at the Woodlawn Gym.
Allred started the game red hot as he nailed three of his four treys in the first quarter to give the Junior Bears a big lead early. He finished with a game-high 17 points in the game.
Jude Roberts and Chandler Freyer both had 10 points apiece for Woodlawn.
The Junior Bears are 11-6.
