RISON The Rison Wildcats suffered another tough loss Friday night at George Walker Field of Champions, falling 2014 to the Fordyce Redbugs in a hardfought rivalry battle.Rison opened strong, marching 68 yards in six plays to strike first on a 35-yard quarterback keeper by Kyson Walker with 9:09 left in the first quarter. The two-point conversion failed, but the Wildcats grabbed an early 6 0 lead.The Rison defense stood tall early, forcing a turnover on downs during Fordyce's first possession. The Wildcats then put together an 11-play drive that spanned the end of the first quarter but came up short on a 4thand-18 from the Fordyce 31 to open the second.After another defensive stand, the Wildcats were forced to punt late in the half, setting up Fordyce's first score - a 21-yard touchdown run by Micah Gamble with 1:17 left in the second quarter. The Redbugs' two-point attempt was nullified by an illegal formation penalty, and the game went into halftime tied 6 6.Gamble picked up right where he left off to start the second half, punching in a 3-yard touchdown run just over two minutes into the third quarter. He then ran in the two-point conversion to give Fordyce its first lead, 146.Later in the quarter, Gamble broke loose for a 78-yard touchdown run, his third score of the night, extending the Redbugs' lead to 206 with 3:51 remaining in the third.Rison responded immediately with a six-play, 62-yard drive capped by a highlight-reel 44yard touchdown run from JaQuis Rauls, who weaved across the field from right to left to find the end zone.
