WOODLAWN - Carson Young rushed for 206 yards and scored four touchdowns as the Woodlawn Junior Bears overwhelmed the Dermott Junior Rams, 50-6, last Friday afternoon at the Carl Jones Sports Complex.Woodlawn moved to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in South Conference play with the league victory.Young capped the Junior Bears' first drive of the game with a 15-yard touchdown run with 4:34 left in the first quarter. Quarterback Greyson Jones added the conversion to make it 8-0.Dermott answered with a 62yard touchdown pass but Jones stopped the two-point attempt to leave Woodlawn with an 8-6 lead.The Junior Bears took the ensuing kickoff and marched 55 yards in seven plays before Jones scored on a 23-yard run. The conversion was stopped to make it 14-6 Woodlawn. The Junior Rams drove to the Woodlawn 12 on their ensuing series before turning it over on downs. On the first play after the change of possession, Young weaved his way through the Dermott defense to go 88 yards for the touchdown. Again, the Junior Rams shut down the conversion run to leave the Junior Bears leading 20-6.Dermott was forced to punt on its next series but the punter had to fall down on high snap on its Junior Rams' 32. Jones then turned it into six more points when he found Duke Scott in the end zone for a 27-yard touchdown pass with 1:28 left before halftime. Woodlawn's two-point attempt was no good, leaving the Junior Bears leading 26-6 at halftime.Young extended that lead on the Junior Bears' first possession of the second half, going 34 yards for the score to close out a fourplay, 64-yard drive. This time Brody Richardson's two-point run was good to make it 34-6 with 5:38 left in the third.After the Woodlawn defense held again on fourth down, Young took it 25 yards for a touchdown on the next snap pushing the Junior Bears' cushion to 42-6 after Blake Heflin added the conversion to invoke the running clock for the rest of the game.DC Heflin added ...
