RISON - The Rison Junior Wildcats relied on a strong running game Thursday night to edge the Dumas Junior Bobcats 16-12 at George Walker Field of Champions.After a scoreless first quarter, Rison struck first with a four-play, 25-yard drive capped by a 16-yard touchdown run from Payne Prescott. Michael Kennah added the two-point conversion to put the Wildcats ahead 8-0 with 5:49 remaining in the first half.Dumas answered quickly with a 75-yard touchdown run on its next possession, but the Wildcats’ defense came up big, stopping the two-point attempt to preserve an 8-6 lead heading into halftime.Early in the third quarter, Trent Southerland intercepted a Bobcat pass, setting up an eight-play, 76-yard drive. Kennah capped it off with a 12-yard touchdown run, and Prescott’s two-point conversion extended Rison’s lead to 16-6 with just over two minutes left in the quarter.Dumas capitalized on a Rison fumble late in the fourth, scoring with 1:53 remaining, but the Wildcats’ defense once again stopped the conversion attempt. The Bobcats then tried an onside kick, which McGarity recovered, allowing Rison to run out the clock and secure the victory.Prescott led the Wildcats with 12 carries for 98 yards and added an 11-yard reception.The Rison Junior Wildcats return to action next Thursday when they travel to McGehee....
