JUNCTION CITY - Junction City banked in a couple of 3pointers in the first quarter and then hung on in the second half as the Junior Lady Dragons edged the Woodlawn Junior Lady Bears, 35-34, in an 8-2A conference showdown last Friday at Junction City.
The two treys in the opening period help the Junior Lady Dragons open up a 10-3 lead by the end of the first quarter. Woodlawn came in the second period with an 11-2 run to take a 14-12 lead into halftime.
The game went back-and-forth over the final two quarters with Junction City pulling off the victory in the end.
Kelsi Mack had 14 for the Woodlawn followed by a season-high nine points from Laci Rauls.
The Junior Lady Bears fell to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the loss.
Poyen 39, Woodlawn 21
POYEN - Poyen used a 15-0 run in the first quarter to take control of the game as the Junior Lady Indians cruised to a 39-21 victory over the Woodlawn Junior Lady Bears in a non-conference game last Thursday at Poyen.
Kendall Tooke had 11 points for Woodlawn while Kelsi Mack had nine.
