Junior Bears Fall at Marvell, 28-14

MARVELL - Woodlawn suffered four turnovers and the Marvell Junior Mustangs utilized their size and speed advantage to knock off the Juniors Bears, 28-14, in an South Conference game Friday at Marvell.

Marvell jumped out to a 14-0 lead, using a 61-yard touchdown run on the second play of the game and then a 52-yard run on the first play of the second quarter. The Junior Mustangs ran in their first conversion attempt but were stopped on the second.

Woodlawn’s 7th grade quarterback Bentley Hoyt then seemed to find his rhythm as he netted 25 yards on three carries, the last of which went for 16 yards as he carried some larger defenders with him. However, the Junior Bears fumbled it away on the next play.
