Junior Lady 'Cats Advance With Round 1 Win Over PC

FORDYCE - Madelyn Peyton and Jasmine Price combined for 17 points in the second half as the Rison Junior Lady Wildcats rallied for a 3029 victory over the Parkers Chapel Junior Lady Trojans in the opening round of the 8-2A District Junior High Tournament this past Saturday at Fordyce.

Rison trailed 18-11 at halftime before Peyton and Price got red hot from the free throw line. Peyton connected on 4-of-5 attempts while Price hit 3-of-4 as the Junior Lady 'Cats cut the Parkers Chapel lead to 2322 to start the fourth quarter.

Price scored four more points in the fourth while Peyton went 2-for-2 at the charity stripe with a basket to push Rison ahead for the one-point victory at the end.

The game was essentially decided at the free throw line as the Junior Lady Wildcats made 12-of-17 attempts compared to 2-of-10 for the Junior Lady Trojans.

Ouachita 48, Rison 25

RISON - The Ouachita Junior Lady Warriors pulled away in the second half as they posted a 48-25 victory over the Rison Junior Lady Wildcats in the regular season finale at the Rison Gym.

Ouachita led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter before it extending it to 28-20 by halftime. The Junior Lady Warriors won the second half by a 20-12 margin. Teairra Miller had 15 points for Rison.

Fordyce 33, Rison 25

FORDYCE - Fordyce took advantage of a slow start by the Rison Junior Lady Wildcats as the Junior Ladybugs cruised to a 33-25 victory last Friday at Fordyce.

Rison managed to score a single point in the opening frame as Fordyce led 6-1at the end of the first before making it 14-7 at halftime. The Junior Ladybugs extended it to a 23-12 by the start of the fourth.

Teairra Miller led the Junior Lady 'Cats with 13 points followed by TaNiya Miller with nine.
