MCGEHEE - The Rison Junior Wildcats fell 22-16 in double overtime Thursday night at McGehee in a hard-fought game that featured back-and-forth action throughout.The game opened with early drama as Rison fumbled on the second play, but McGehee failed to capitalize, turning the ball back over to the Wildcats four plays later.Rison drove down to the 19yard line before the Owls intercepted a pass with 3:48 left in the first half. McGehee then put together a scoring drive, punching it in with 1:14 remaining in the half. A successful two-point conversion gave the Owls an 8-0 lead that held through halftime.Rison opened the third quarter with a spark when Logan McGarity delivered a perfectly placed onside kick recovered by Gibson Terry. Seven plays later, Michael Kanneh broke free for a 23-yard touchdown run. Deion Jones added the two-point conversion to tie the game at 8-8 with 3:46 left in the third.McGarity then executed another onside kick, again recovered by Terry, setting the Wildcats up at the 49-yard line. Mc-Garity capped the drive with a 25-yard quarterback keeper for a touchdown with just 8.3 seconds remaining in the quarter. Payne Prescott's two-point conversion gave Rison a 16-8 lead heading into the fourth.After going three-and-out to start the fourth quarter, McGehee's offense responded after recovering a fumbled snap by Rison on first down, turning it into a 53-yard touchdown run. The successful two-point try tied the game 16-16 with 6:00 left.The Wildcats had a chance to win in regulation, driving to the 5-yard line with 8.4 seconds remaining, but Prescott was stopped just short of the goal line, sending the game to overtime.Neither team scored in the first overtime period. In double over-time, McGehee found the end zone on the first play to take a 2216 lead.
