JUNCTION CITY - The Woodlawn Lady Bears opened 8-2A conference play Tuesday with a 19-1 blowout of the Junction City Lady Dragons.Woodlawn was up 1-0 when the Lady Bears exploded for seven runs in the third and 11 more in the fourth to invoke the 15-run rule.Jaci Hoyt was red hot at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a homerun and five RBIs. Laci Rauls finished with three hits and three RBIs. Addison Holland, Karsyn Chastain, Kaylee Misho and Maeley Simmons all had two hits. Holland had homerun while Chastain had a triple and Misho, Rauls and Skylar Raney all had doubles.Rauls pitched all four innings for the Lady Bears to get the win. She scattered two hits with no walks and had nine strikeouts.The Lady Bears improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in 8-2A conference play with the victory.Star City 11, Woodlawn 9WOODLAWN - The Class 4A Star City Lady Bulldogs scored five runs with two out in the top of the seventh inning to rally past the Woodlawn Lady Bears, 11-9, Monday night at Lady Bear Field.Woodlawn took a 9-6 lead into the top of the seventh after scoring in each of the previous six frames.After Star City’s first batter struck out to start the final frame, a hit batter put one aboard before the next batter also went down on strikes. However, a walk and two consecutive singles tied the game, and then a dropped third strike and error added two more to give the Lady Bulldogs an 11-9 lead.The Lady Bears went three-up, three-down in the bottom of the seventh, securing Star City’s win.Woodlawn had 11 hits with Laci Rauls and Karsyn Chastain finishing with two apiece. Hoyt, Tooke and Rauls all had doubles.Chastiain was the starting pitcher, giving up six hits and four walks with one strikeout over five innings.
