Lady Bears Fall 2-1 to Horatio In Hot Springs Tourney Finals

HOT SPRINGS - Horatio scored on a ground out in the bottom of the sixth as the Lady Lions edged the Woodlawn Lady Bears, 2-1, the championship game of the Hot Springs Tournament on Saturday.Neither team scored until bottom of the fifth when Horatio had a two-out double that brought the first run in for a 1-0 Lady Lion lead.Woodlawn answered in the top of the sixth when Addison Holland and Anniston Wright both singled to put two aboard with one out. Holland moved to third on a passed ball and then scored on another passed ball to tie the game 1-1.In the bottom of the sixth, Horatio’s Hayli Lyon singled to start the inning, stole second and then advanced to third on a ground out, setting up the winning run. The Lady Lions, who improved to 8-2 overall with the win, had run-ruled Junction City (16-0) and Gurdon (15-0) to advance to the finals.The game lasted six innings due to the tournament format.Woodlawn out hit Horatio six  to four. Kendall Tooke went 2-for-3 to lead the Lady Bears while Holland, Wright, Molly Shelby and Karsyn Chastain accounted for the other hits.The loss spoiled a strong outing by Woodlawn pitcher Laci Rauls, who struckout 13 while scattering four hits with just one walk over all six innings.Woodlawn 8, Bigelow 4HOT SPRINGS - Jaci Hoyt’s three-run homerun in the bottom of the third capped a five-run frame as the Woodlawn Lady Bears handed the Bigelow Lady Panthers their first loss of the season, 8-4, in the second round of the Hot Springs Tournament Saturday.Woodlawn trailed 4-3 heading into the bottom of the third after Bigelow scored on an error in the top of the third to break a 3-3 tie.Addison Holland and Karsyn Chastain led off with back-to-back hits before Anniston Wright’s sacrifice fly brought Holland home to tie the game.
