Lady Bears Hammer Ouachita, Beat Hampton

DONALDSON - Kendall Tooke and Laci Rauls drove in six runs apiece as the Woodlawn Lady Bears blew out the Ouachita Lady Warriors, 18-2, in four innings Tuesday at Ouachita High School.Woodlawn improved to 17-4 overall and 3-0 in league play with the 8-2A win. Rauls had an outstanding game at both the plate and the inside the circle. She went 4-for-4 to lead the Lady Bear batters while tossing a one-hitter with nine strikeouts over four innings.Tooke gave Woodlawn the early momentum when she hammered a three-run shot over the center field fence to put the Lady Bears up 3-0.Ouachita plated a couple of runs off a sacrifice fly and passed ball in the bottom of the first to make close it to 3-2 but that was a close as it would get.In the top of the second, Kathryn Dixon’s one-run single, Rauls’ three-run double and a RBI single by Karsyn Chastain extended Woodlawn’s lead to 8-2.The Lady Bears continued to roll in the third, as Maeley Simmons and Lily White led off with back-to-back hits before both score off a single from Dixon and error in right field. Tooke followed with a double that drove in Dixon, and Rauls followed two batters later with a two-run single. Bay Aud had a hit to add another run to make it 14-2 Lady Bears after entering the bottom of the third.Woodlawn’s final four runs came off hits from White, Tooke, Lillie Faye McWhorter and Lillian Bradley in the fourth.Rauls then struck out the side in the bottom of the fourth to end the game on the 15-run rule.The Lady Bears tagged Ouachita for 18 hits in the four-inning game.
