Lady Bears Rally To Beat Strong

PARKERS CHAPEL - Freshman Jaci Hoyt had a career-high 22 points as the Woodlawn Lady Bears rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the game before pulling out a 45-44 overtime win over the Strong Lady Bulldogs in Parkers Chapel Tournament last week. The two teams went into halftime knotted up 17-17 before the Lady Bulldogs moved in front in the third, leading 30-26 to start the fourth. But Woodlawn rallied, drawing even with Strong on Lille McWhorter's late basket. Hoyt and Anna Fitzgibbon combined for the Lady Bears' five points in the extra period. The Lady Bears improved to 4-9 overall with the win. Taylor 51, Woodlawn 38 PARKERS CHAPEL - Taylor used a third-quarter run to give the Lady Tigers some breathing room as they pulled off a 51-38 win over the Woodlawn Lady Bears in the first round of the Parkers Chapel Tournament last week. Taylor was leading 29-23 at the start of the second half before going on a 14-4 run to push its lead to double digits by the start of the final period. The Lady Tigers hit 12 3pointers in the game. Jaci Hoyt had nine to lead a balanced scoring attack by the Lady Bears. Skylar Conner had six points and Lille McWhorter had five. Woodlawn 37, Cutter-Morning Star 34 BAUXITE - The Woodlawn Lady Bears overcame an early deficit to pull ahead in the second quarter before holding on for a 37-34 win over the Cutter-Morning Star Lady Eagles in the second round of the Bauxite Tournament Dec. 21. Faith Hisaw, who made the All-Tournament Team, had 10 for the Lady Bears while Jaci Hoyt and Kathryn Dixon finished with nine. Dixon hit three 3-pointers for her nine points.
