Lady Bears' Rally Comes Up Short Against Bismarck

DONALDSON - Woodlawn rallied from an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but the Bismarck Lady Lions were able to rebound in the extra frame to pull out a 49-42 win in the first round of the Ouachita Tournament last Friday in Donaldson.Bismarck was up 39-28 heading into the final period before Woodlawn took over, outscoring the Lady Lions 13-2 to force overtime.But what offense the Lady Bears found in the fourth went away in the extra period as the Bismarck won the overtime 8-1 to get the win.Jaci Hoyt had 16 points for the Lady Bears while Kathryn Dixon followed with 13.Woodlawn blew out Blevins, 50-24, in the second round of the Ouachita Tournament on Saturday.Parkers Chapel 43, Woodlawn 37 PARKERS CHAPEL - A slow start to the second half proved to be the difference as the Woodlawn Lady Bears dropped a 43-37 decision to the Parkers Chapel Lady Trojans in an 8-2A conference game Dec. 20 at Parkers Chapel.After the Lady Trojans led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears pulled even, 22-22, by halftime. However, Woodlawn managed just five points in low-scoring third quarter that saw both teams combined for just 13 points. Parkers Chapel managed to maintain its lead in the fourth quarter to come away with the win.Jaci Hoyt paced Woodlawn with 21 points.The Lady Bears fell to 1-3 in league play with the loss.Fountain Lake 47, Woodlawn 43 WOODLAWN - Woodlawn put together a second-half comeback but could never get over the hump as the Class 4A Fountain Lake Lady Cobras held on a for a 47-43 win over the Lady Bears on Dec. 17 at Woodlawn.Fountain Lake led 16-6 at the end of the opening period and pushed its lead to 15 by halftime.
