RISON - Ouachita hit six 3pointers in the game but it wasn't enough to hold off the Rison Lady Wildcats as they overcome an early deficit to knock off the Lady Warriors, 4744, in an 8-2A conference battle last Friday night at Rison Ouachita built a 24-22 halftime lead on the strength of four 3's before the Lady 'Cats put together their best quarter of the game. A trey from Destiny Lea and four points apiece from both Layne Potter and Alysia Walker, pushed Rison in front, 39-36, to start the fourth quarter.
Lea, the game's leading scoring with 17 points, came through at the free throw line in the final period hitting all four of her attepts as the Lady Wildcats were able to protect their threepoint lead at the end of the game.
Rison was 9-of-12 at the free throw line for the game with Lea converting 6-of-8 opportunities at the charity stripe.
Potter had nine points for the Lady 'Cats while Alysia Walker hit a 3-pointer in finishing with five.
The victory snapped a threegame skid by Rison as it improved to 4-7 in conference play and 13-10 overall. The Lady Wildcats will close out the regular season by hosting cross county rival Woodlawn this Friday night inside the Rison gym.
Fordyce 53, Rison 50
FORDYCE - Rison battled back from an early double-digit deficit to make it a two-point game at halftime before the Fordyce Ladybugs held on in the second half to get past the Lady Wildcats, 53-50, in 8-2A conference action last Thursday at Fordyce.
Fordyce led 18-8 at the end of the first quarter before Rison's Layne Potter scored nine of her 12 points in the second period to pull the Lady 'Cats to within 2927 at the break.
Both team played nearly even in the second half with the Ladybugs holding on down the stretch. Rison made nine of 22 free throw attempts in the game.
Destiny Lea led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 19 followed by Potter with 12.
