RISON - The fate of the Rison Lady Wildcats' place in the final 8-2A conference standings will be determined over the next week as they find themselves in a three-way battle with Parkers Chapel and Ouachita for a possible second place finish in the league.
Fordyce currently leads the conference with an 8-0 record. Parkers Chapel is in second with a 6-2 mark followed by Rison at 5-3 and Ouachita at 5-4.
The Lady Wildcats were scheduled to host Parkers Chapel this past Tuesday, Jan. 31, but the game was rescheduled to Monday, Feb. 6, due to
winter weather closing school on Tuesday.
Rison closes out the season by traveling to league-leading Fordyce this Thursday, before hosting Ouachita on Friday and Parkers Chapel on Monday. The Lady Wildcats' final regular season game will be at Woodlawn next Thursday, Feb. 9.
Parkers Chapel, meanwhile, hosts Junction City on Friday, before traveling to Rison on Monday, Woodlawn on Tuesday, and Fordyce next Thursday, Feb. 9.
Ouachita, meanwhile, owns a 57-52 home victory over Rison back on Jan. 10 but lost both of its games against Parkers Chapel. The Lady Warriors finish out conference play with a rescheduled home game against Fordyce, Friday's road game at Rison, and a home game next Tuesday against Gurdon.
How the Lady 'Cats finish out the season will determine their seeding for the 8-2A District Tournament that will be held Feb. 15-18 at Gurdon.
Rison will take a four-game win streak into its matchup with Fordyce on Thursday, After getting past county rival Woodlawn in overtime, 42-38, the Lady 'Cats picked up backto-back wins against Junction City last week before getting a road victory at Gurdon on Friday.
Rison blew out Junction City at home last Tuesday, 37-17, before getting past the Lady Dragons, 49-39, last Thursday at Junction Cityo. The Lady Wildcats came away from Gurdon with a 51-46 win.
