Lady Wildcats Fall to Mena, 6-2; Rison Blows Out Murfreesboro

HOT SPRINGS - The Mena Lady Bearcats scored four runs in the top of the fifth as they beat the Rison Lady Wildcats, 6-2, in tournament action Saturday at Majestic Park in Hot Springs.Mena scored two runs in the top of the first before Layne Potter scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the first to leave the Lady Bearkats with 2-1 lead.Rison tied the game in the bottom of the third when Mena had an error on Carlese Johnson's a two-out single allowing Potter to reach home to make it 2-2.The Lady Bearkats loaded the bases to start the fifth inning using a walk, a single and an error. Then with one out, a double scored three runs and a followup single added another to give Mena a 6-2 lead and the win.The game ended after five innings due to the tournament rules.Johnson accounted for both of Rison's hits in the game. She also pitched all five innings, giving up five hits and two walks while striking out three.Rison 25, Carlisle JV 5 CARLISLE - Seven of Rison's 22 hits went for extra bases as the Lady Wildcats hammered the Carlisle Junior Varsity, 25-5, in a four-inning game last Friday at Carlisle.Riley Hyatt had a homerun and triple, while Carlese Johnson also had a triple.
