Martin Brothers All State; Six Bears Are All Conference

WOODLAWN - Twin brothers Caleb and Jaxson Martin, senior teammates for the Woodlawn Bears, have been named to the Arkansas 8-Man Football All-State team, according to the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA). Meanwhile, Woodlawn Coach Zach Meyer announced that two-way starter Fisher Hale earned All State Honorable Mention while five other senior teammates - Landen Booth, Jais King, Payton Leveritt, Jaxson Raney and Manny Wagner earned All Conference honors. Woodlawn finished the season 8-2 after advancing to the Class 2A eight-man state semifinals, falling on the road to eventual state champion Izard County, 62-56, on the last play of the game. It was the deepest playoff run in Woodlawn football history. The Bears were second in the eight-man South Conference behind Mountain Pine. Here is a look at each All State and All Conference player: Caleb Martin played running back and defensive back for the Bears this past season. Offensively, he finished with 1,192 yards of total offense. He rushed for 1,023 yards on 109 carries while scoring 16 touchdowns, and also caught seven passes for another 138 yards. He threw one pass completion for 31 yards. Jaxson Martin played quarterback for Woodlawn, compiling 1,402 yards of total offense over the season. He rushed 139 times for 888 yards and 20 touchdowns, while completing 26 of 56 pass attempts for 483 yards with six touchdowns and four interceptions. He also caught a pass for 31 yards. Fisher Hale was All State honorable mention after starting at running back and linebacker for the Bears. Offensively, he finished with 1,117 yards of total offense, leading the Bears in rushing with 1,086 yards on 138 attempts with 12 touchdowns while hauling in three passes for 31 yards and another touchdown.
