Rauls Sets State Record in Bench Press

MONTICELLO - Woodlawn senior Jude Rauls set another state record in the bench press for his weight classification when he and teammate Ayden Moore won their respective weight classes at the recent Monticello Billie Powerlifting Meet.Rauls won the 165-pound class by lifting a combined total of 1,060 lbs. in the bench press, squat and deadlift. Rauls actually broke the state bench press record twice during the meet when he lifted 290 lbs. the first time and then lifted 300 lbs. on his third attempt for another new record. Woodlawn Coach Zach Meyer said it was also a personal best for Rauls.Rauls, a two-time state champion lifter, also lifted 345 lbs. in the squat and 415 lbs. in the deadlift to achieve his 1,060 lbs. total.This was the eighth time that Rauls has broken a state record in a powerlifting meet. Meyer said he has set records in both the 148-pound and 165-pound classes and his latest feat was good enough for new state records in the 181-pound and 198-pound classes as well.Moore, meanwhile, won the 148-pound class with an overall weight of 860 lbs. He lifted 350 lbs. In the deadlift, 210 lbs. in the bench press and 30o lbs. in the squat.In addition, junior Michael Wright finished 6th in the 165-pound class with a total lift of 745 lbs.Meyer said the event was sanctioned by the Arkansas High School Powerlifting Association....
