Rison Hammers Dumas, 14-1; Improves to 4-0 in League Play

RISON - Rison got off to a hot start and never looked back as the Wildcats dominated the Dumas Bobcats, 14-1, Tuesday afternoon at Wildcat Field.Rison improved to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in league play with the 8-3A conference win. Dumas fell to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in conference action.The ‘Cats grabbed some early momentum when Lawson Kidd walked to start the bottom of the first and advanced to third on a wild pitch. After the first out, Ethan Saeler drove him in with a white, and after Andrew Couture walked, Ayden Laws’ singled to drive in Saeler making it 2-0.James Jacobs then followed with a double to left, scoring both Couture and Laws to push Rison’s lead to 4-0. Kyson Walker, running for Jacobs, eventually scored on an error to make it 5-0.Laws’ sacrifice fly in the second scored Kidd to make it 6-0 before the ‘Cats added three more in the third off hits from Mason Weaver, Saeler and Laws.The Bobcats used a walk and an error in the top of the fourth to score its run before Rison answered with five more in the bottom of the inning.Two walks and a hit batter loaded the bases with one outwhen Weaver drew another walk to force in a run. Aaron Tilley then scored on a wild pitch and an error on Saeler’s grounder made it 12-1.Couture followed with a hit for another run and Laws had another sacrifice to tack on one more, making it 14-1.Dumas was unable to score in the top of the fifth, ending the game by the 10-run rule.Noah Matheson got the start and the win for Rison. He gave up two hits without a walk while striking out three over two innings.Mason Weaver did not allow a hit and walked two over the next two frames while registering four strikeouts. CJ Edwards closed out the fifth with out giving up a hit and walking one.Laws finished with four RBIs for the Wildcats off two singles and two sacrifice flies.
