RISON - Rison junior Noah Matheson, a right-handed pitcher and middle infielder for the Wildcats, has been named to the Perfect Game WWBA Underclass World Championship All-Tournament Team, recognizing his standout performance at one of the nation's premier high school baseball showcases.Matheson, an All-State and All-Conference selection from Rison, competed in last week's event in Fort Myers, Florida, with the Baseball Portal 17U National Team based out of Southaven, Mississippi.During the five-day tournament, Matheson made a strong impression both on the mound and at the plate. He started the first game of the tournament for Baseball Portal, pitching five innings while striking out seven batters, allowing just two hits and one earned run, finishing with a 1.3 ERA. Offensively, he posted an impressive .423 batting average, hitting a double and driving in four runs. He also anchored the defense at shortstop, accounting for multiple key outs over the weekend.Matheson's performance in Florida adds to an already decorated high school career. Following a stellar sophomore season, he was named to the All-State, All-Conference, and All-Arkansas Preps Underclassmen teams after helping lead Rison High School to its first conference championship in 21 years.Looking ahead, Matheson is committed to play collegiate baseball at Texas A&M University at Texarkana....
