WOODLAWN - Jailyn Wright hit her only shot of the game to tie it up before Kendall Tooke made a layup with about 7 seconds left to give the Woodlawn Junior Lady Bears a 26-24 victory over the Fordyce Junior Lady 'Bugs in a key 8-2A conference matchup at Woodlawn.
The Junior Lady Bears got off to a hot start, leading 10-2 at the end of the opening period and 18-8 by the half.
Fordyce, however, came roaring back in the third, cutting the Junior Lady Bears' lead to 20-17 by the end of the third, and then moving in front in the fourth.
But Wright's layup tied it back up for Woodlawn and Tooke came through with the clutch basket as time was winding down to give the Junior Lady Bears a key league victory.
Tooke led Woodlawn with nine points followed by seventh grader Preslee Mac with seven.
