Woodlawn Soars at Cheer Camp

WOODLAWN - Woodlawn Junior and Senior High Cheerleaders, consisting of 29 girls, recently attended a NCA camp in Hot Springs. The four-day event was hosted by National Park College, June 6-9. Both squads, along with seven other junior high and high school varsity squads from across the state, learned new material in the areas of cheer, chant, and dance and worked on sharpening their motion technique and jump skills. There were several individual competitions throughout the week, with the squad competitions being held on the final day of camp. Woodlawn Junior High won overall junior high Game Day Routine and Overall junior high Rally Routine. Woodlawn Senior High won Overall varsity Game Day Routine and Overall varsity Rally Routine. Individual awards included seven all-star jump finalists with one overall winner, senior Alivia Nixon, three all-star tumble finalists with one overall winner, 8th grader Joleene Holland, and 13 All-American nominations with one All-American recipient, freshman Baylee Jones. There were three senior invitations to NCA Staff- Leah Brewer, Saydee Hall and Alivia Nixon.
