Rison Holds Public Meeting Thursday

RISON - The City of Rison will hold a public meeting on installing speed bumps along Oak Street as well as hearing considerations for other streets during a public meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at Rison City Hall, Mayor Charles Roberts has announced.

Daylight Saving Time Begins Sunday

Readers are reminded to “spring forward” this Saturday night at bedtime since Daylight Saving Time will officially begin at 2 a.m. this Sunday, March 9. Set your clocks one hour ahead. Daylight Saving Time will  last for 240 days, expiring on Nov. 2.

Purple Martin Seen Feb. 25 at Staves

RISON - Ronald Thompson of the Staves community was the first Cleveland County resident to report the sighting of purple martin to the Herald. He said encountered the bird on Tuesday, Feb. 25, outside his home.

2024 Tax Books Open for Payment

RISON - Cleveland County Tax Collector Patty Wilson has announced that the 2024 tax books are now open for those wanting to pay their 2024 real and personal property taxes. Payments can be made from 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m.

Cattleman’s Association Meeting March 27

RISON - The Cleveland County Cattleman’s Association will meet Thursday, March 27 at 6 p.m.  at the Fairgrounds Meeting Room. David West will demonstrate sprayer calibration.   A meal will be provided by 4M Equipment.

New Edinburg Will Host Spring BBQ Saturday Evening

NEW EDINBURG - The New Edinburg Community Center will be hosting its annual Spring Barbeque Fundraiser starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the community center.Plates are $15 and include a barbeque pork sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw, dessert and drink.
