Food Pantries Open Saturday in County

USDA Commodities To Be Distributed June10 at Kingsland KINGSLAND - The Open Door Community Pantry located at 650 Hwy. 97 in Kingsland will be handing out USDA commodities from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10. Open Door Pantry usually distributes commodities on the second Saturday of each month.

Rison Pee Wee Will Have Fun Day This Saturday at Powell Park

RISON - The Rison PeeWee Football League will be having a Fund Day beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Powell Park in Rison. Activities for Fun Day include a free throw tournament, hor shoe race, sack race, ring toss and more games.

RISON - The Roy and Christin Sturgis Library will be kicking off the 2023 Summer Reading Program at 2 p.m. Monday, June 19, with Nitro Joe's Science Program. This is one of the most entertaining and interactive science shows that you've ever seen.

Damaged Headstones Repaired at Historic Cemetery

RISON - Several old headstones at the historic Cherry/Temperance Chapel Cemetery that is located along Mt. Elba Road were recently damaged by what appeared to be livestock as many cattle and horse hoof prints were apparent next to the damaged headstones.

Transfer Station Will Have Different Hours June 12-17

RISON - The Cleveland County Solid Waste Transfer Station will be changing its hours of operation to 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, June 12, through Saturday, June 17, due to a temporary vacation schedule. The transfer station will return to its regular hours on Monday, June 19.

Free Fishing Weekend June 9-11 Across State

ITTLE ROCK - Thanks to a proclamation by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, anyone may fish in Arkansas without a fishing license or trout stamp from noon Friday, June 9, through midnight Sunday night, June 11.

Woodlawn Students Art Featured in YAA Exhibit

Macie Marcantel (first grade), Ella Burris (fourth grade) and Aiden Womack (sixth grade), all students at Woodlawn Elementary, were featured in the annual Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in Little Rock. Each student won honorable mention for their grade level.
