The Woodlawn Bears’ season came to an end Friday afternoon with a 79-49 loss to Barton in the Class 2A state quarterfinals at Poyen. Barton’s size and athleticism proved too much, as Barton controlled the boards and built a 37-24 halftime lead. Woodlawn made a push in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to six points, but Barton responded with a strong run to pull away and eventually force a running clock late in the game. Woodlawn finished the season 25-12, believed to be the most wins in program history. The quarterfinal matchup marked the final game for several seniors, including standout Jude Roberts, who has signed to play at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
