Brad Young to Run for Sheriff

Brad Young of Rowell, a former Arkansas State Police trooper and colonel in the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, has announced he will run in the Republican primary for Cleveland County Sheriff. Young joins Michael Poss of Randall, and Lee Freeman and Keden Shrum of Rison as those who have announced their intentions to succeed retiring Sheriff Jack Rodgers, whose term ends Dec. 31, 2026. Young, a Woodlawn High graduate with 25 years of law enforcement experience, pledges school safety, proactive crime prevention, community engagement, enhanced training, and pursuit of federal grants as key priorities. The filing period for the 2026 election opens Monday. The Republican primary takes place March 3, 2026.
