The Cleveland County School Board voted to begin the process of hiring a construction manager for the new gym at the Rison School campus. The district will advertise the position for about three weeks before selecting and interviewing finalists. The gym, funded by a voter-approved 6-mill tax increase generating about $12 million and more than $2.7 million in state partnership money, will seat 1,200 to 1,300 people and will be built over the current student parking area. The board also approved the 2026–27 school calendar, extended Superintendent Davy King’s contract through 2028–29, accepted several retirements and resignations, approved the purchase of a new school bus, and addressed other routine business.
