CCSD May Soon Get Partnership Funding

Body

The Cleveland County School District may soon receive about $2.8 million in state partnership funding to go toward a new gym and secure entrance at Rison Elementary after voters in the Pocahontas School District rejected a 2.95 mill increase last week to support construction of a new gym, cafeteria and classrooms. Pocahontas had been allotted nearly $7.5 million in partnership money for those projects. If Pocahontas is unable to provide matching funds to accept the funds, that money would be passed along to the next projects on the partnership lists, which are the new gym and secure elementary entrance on the Rison School campus. Voters in the Cleveland County School District approved a 6-mill tax increase that will fund construction of the new gym, so the district will have its matching funds in place to accept any partnership money offered by the state.
