Glendale Fire Department Seeks Act 833 Funding

Body

A representative of the Glendale Volunteer Fire Department asked the Cleveland County Quorum Court about qualifying for a share of the county’s Act 833 fire protection funds, noting the department provides coverage to parts of northeast Cleveland County. Alex Powell said Glendale covers about 30 square miles and 116 households in the county and responded to 11 of its 34 calls there last year. Justices explained Act 833 funds are typically distributed based on stations located within the county, citing a past case resolved by establishing a substation. Powell said a substation could be set up locally, but no action was taken pending appointment of a new county judge.
