Heavy Early Voting for CCSD Millage Request; Election Day is Tomorrow

Body

Today (Monday, Nov. 17) is the final day of early voting in the Cleveland County School District’s millage election. As of the close of the polls last Friday afternoon on Nov. 14, more than 500 people had already cast their votes early regarding a request by the school district for a 6-mill tax increase to support construction of a new gym at the Rison School campus.  The additional millage is expected to generate about about $12 million to build the gym. Superintendent Davy King announced last week that the district is moving closer to possibly receiving $2.7 million in state partnership money to help pay for the construction as well. Early voting will be available through 4:30 p.m. today at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building, 404 Sycamore Street in Rison. The election itself will be held tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 18) with polling sites open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the New Edinburg Community Center, Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church and the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building in Rison.
