There will be six homesteading sessions that will be part of the Pioneer Crafts Festival this Saturday, April 11, at the Pioneer Village in Rison. The schedules includes:
9 a.m. Making Herbal Tinctures, Teas and Salves, presented by Cindy Faulk of C the Difference Boutique in Hot Springs
10 a.m. Soap Making presented by Chayne and Ashely Beesaw of Beesaw Heritage Farm of Rison
11 a.m. Tanning Hides presented by Shona Jordan of Pike County
Noon Backyard Poultry presented by Frankie Harper of Rison. He will be going over the best chicken breeds for eggs, meat and both as well as biosecurity measures to protect flocks.
1 p.m. Building an Air-Pruning Garden Bed presented by Britt Talent of ArkansasHomesteader.com
2 p.m. DIY High Tunnel and Rain Barrel Projects presented by David West, agriculture agent with the Cleveland County Cooperative Extension Office.
In addition, there will also be booths set up to discuss backyard beekeeping and forestland management for wildlife or timber.
