King Provides CCSB With Update on Bonds for New Gym

Body

Superintendent Davy King updated the Cleveland County School Board on plans for a new gym at Rison School, funded by a $13.165 million bond issue approved by voters in November, along with $2.7 million in state partnership funds. Bonds are expected to sell in April, with construction possibly beginning in June. The 2,000-seat gym will include concessions and restrooms accessible from the football field. Student parking will be relocated during construction, and the old gym will be demolished afterward. The district will donate a small portion of the former New Edinburg campus to the community center and sell the remaining property. The board also approved routine business and personnel items.
