The Cleveland County Quorum Court is scheduled to appoint a new county judge during its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at the Hall-Morgan Veterans Building in Rison.
The quorum court approved a resolution during its last regular meeting on Jan. 5 declaring the office of county judge vacant after the passing of the late County Judge Jimmy Dale Adair on Jan. 2. State law requires a successor be named within 30 days after the vacancy is declared.
The quorum court invited anyone who may be interested in the appointment to submit their name to the county clerk’s office. Those names will be considered during Monday night’s meeting. The appointee will serve through Dec. 31, 2026.
