Rison Water, Sewer Projects Nearing Completion

Body

Rison’s $8.8 million water and sewer improvement project is nearly complete, with water line work expected to finish by Jan. 15—months ahead of schedule. The upgrades included overhauling the wastewater treatment plant, refurbishing water tanks, and replacing about 75% of the city’s century-old water lines. The work was funded through a mix of American Rescue Plan grants and a partially forgivable $1.8 million state loan. Mayor Charles Roberts also reported the city was denied two grants for a street project and fire truck but is pursuing other funding. Meanwhile, Rison’s new mapping update and downtown building revitalization program continue progressing.
