The National Weather Service (NWS) at Little Rock determined that an EF-1 tornado with winds of up to 105 mph hit the Kingsland area on Wednesday morning. There were posts on social media showing some out buildings had been destroyed and trees snapped in half by the storm. A vehicle with two passengers and an unloaded log truck hit a large pine that had fallen across Hwy. 79 just south of Kingsland shortly after 7 a.m. when the storm passed through. The NWS had issued a tornado warning for Cleveland County at the time. The NWS said the tornado had a 14.7 mile path Wednesday, starting in northeast Calhoun County before crossing over into Dallas County between Fordyce and Tri-County Lake. It crossed Moro Creek and continued to follow a path basically parrallel wth Hwy. 79 before ending around Prairie Road east of Kingsland. At its peak, the NWS estimated the tornado was about 200 yards wide.
