RISON - Tee Miller scored 35 points, including 21 in the first half, as the Rison Lady Wildcats broke a two-game skid with a 52-47 win over the Lake Village Beavers last Friday night in 8-3A conference action at the Rison Gym.Miller’s 12 points in the opening period countered the eight put up by Lake Village center Bria Toney as the Lady ‘Cats took a 16-11 lead into the second quarter. The Lady Beavers, however, were able to cut it to a one-possession game at the half, 28-25.Miller stayed hot in the third as she scored 10 more points to push Rison’s lead to double digits, 44-34, by the start of the fourth quarter.Rison finished the game making 6-of-9 free throws while Lake Village struggled at the charity stripe, making only 2-of-13 for the game.Toney had 20 points to lead the Lady Beavers.The Lady Wildcats improved to 11-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play, a half-game behind DeWitt for fourth place in the 8-3A standings. Rison hosted DeWitt on Tuesday night.Drew Central 43, Rison 33MONITCELLO - Drew Central saved its best for last as the Lady Pirates hit 8-of-11 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away late for a 43-33 win over the Rison Lady Wildcats in an 8-3A conference game at Monticello last Tuesday.Both teams struggled to find points in the first half as Charmire Crain hit one of her three 3-pointers in the second quarter as Rison took a 16-14 lead at halftime.Drew Central, currently second in the 8-3A standings, went back in front in the third going up 23-21 by the start the fourth quarter.That’s when the Lady Pirates’ senior guard Bailey Chapman, who had been scoreless over the previous three quarters, suddenly got hot and hit two 3-pointers as she scored nine points to help Drew Central pull away for the 10-point win.Chamira Crain led the Lady ‘Cats with 13 points while Tee Miller had eight and Carlese Johnson had seven....
