The Woodlawn School Board voted in a special meeting last Monday, June 16, to delete certain parts of the district policy concerning scheduling so it would align with the Arkansas School Board Association model policy.Woodlawn School District Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock said the district’s policy and the model policy did not align as far as the time when students and staff were to be in class. To correct the problem, he said the board voted to eliminate the district policy to match the model policy.Hancock said the policy change will now be taken to the personnel policy committee for consideration before being brought back to the school board for final approval.In addition to addressing the policy issue, Hancock said the board also approved hiring Riveria Tree Service of Warren to take down some trees on campus. The trees in front of the football field were taken down last week.Also, the board approved hiring Tim Whitney, formerly of the Hermitage School District, as the K-12 music teacher; and Salina White as a paraprofessional for the elementary school....
