RISON - This Friday night, six teams of dancers and firemen will battle at the “Dancing with the Rison Starz and Firemen” dinner and competition at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds beginning at 6 p.m. Only a handful of tickets remain.Rison Shine Community Development, Inc. is hosting the one-night-only event to benefit two organizations in Rison - the Rison Volunteer Fire Department and the Rison Starz Dance Academy.Dancing at the event are Ansley Hornaday and Travis Bell, Cayla Johnson and Alan Parnell, Mallory Stuckey and Triston Ward, Haven Culpepper and Lee Freeman, Annalin Dean and Brylan Wells, Marcella Castillo and Kendrick Whitaker.Tickets can be purchased at the Cleveland County Herald office, 215 Main Street. Tickets are $30 for an individual or $50 for a couple.The ticket includes live dancing, dinner and access to variety of raffle prizes. Dinner, catered by Mom and Pop's Cafe, includes country fried pork loin with gravy, potatoes, corn, side salad, rolls, tea and water.The unique event pairs a Rison Starz dancer with one of Rison’s firemen for a friendly dance competition to raise funds for the dance studio’s roof repairs and the fire station’s equipment upgrades. All proceeds from the event, votes and raffle will be split between the dance studio and fire department.For those unable to attend, they can still purchase raffle tickets for prizes, or vote in the People’s Choice competition. People’s Choice votes are $1 each and can be paid in advance at the Herald office, or by CashApp to $addibliss.
