CCSD Could Start on New Gym As Early As June

Construction on the new Rison School gym could begin as early as June, funded by about $12 million in construction bond money and $2.7 million in state partnership funding. Superintendent Davy King outlined a timeline that includes securing bond funds by late March and completing architectural plans this spring for state review.

The project will be situated on the current student parking lot, requiring temporary parking adjustments until the old gym is eventually demolished to create a new lot.

Additionally, King recommended hiring a construction manager to oversee the project for potential cost savings rather than using a traditional “hard bid” contractor.
