Woodlawn Approves Cafeteria Expansion Budget

Body

The Woodlawn School Board approved a conceptual budget of about $1.22 million to expand the school cafeteria and authorized Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hancock to move forward with planning for a new career education center. The cafeteria project includes a nearly 2,800-square-foot addition to add dining space, a second serving line, and more kitchen storage, with construction bids expected soon and work possibly starting in late May. The board also allowed Hancock to negotiate the potential purchase of 33 acres near the elementary school for future growth. Additionally, the board discussed scaling back plans for the career education center based on revised state requirements and class needs.
