Rison Considers Uses for Industrial Park Land

Body

The Rison City Council discussed potential uses for the city’s 40-acre industrial site along Hwy. 79 during its regular meeting Tuesday but reached no final decision. Mayor Charles Roberts outlined possible options, including pursuing grant funding to clear land, developing an RV park, attracting light manufacturing, creating a wildlife area, or allowing the timber to mature for future harvest. The option of possibly selling the land was also mentioned. The council also approved the purchase of a $78,422 jetter for the wastewater department to replace frequent rentals. Additional discussion included street repairs after recent ice storms, possible use of chip-and-seal resurfacing along city streets, adoption of an AI policy, upcoming hazardous material inspections of two buildings downtown, and the formation of a budget committee.
