The Rison Booster Club held its Second Annual Rison High School Sports Hall of Fame Banquet and Awards Ceremony at the White Hall Community Center in White Hall. About 300 people were on hand for the event. Those inducted by a vote of the Rison Booster Club membership were the 1980 Rison Wildcat Girls Mile Relay Team; former NFL player Tyrell Johnson; state champion hurdler Ira Moore; standout athlete and CFL Rookie of the Year William Miller; and the 1990 Class A State Championship football team, which famously ended Barton’s 63-game winning streak. Former Rison Coach Mark Whatley and defensive coordinator Blair Brown spoke on behalf of the football team, recalling that the decision to go for the pivotal fake punt in the third quarter that led to the game-winning touchdown was actually made on the Tuesday before the game.
