GOP Runoff Election Set For This Tuesday

RISON - Two races will be on the ballot in the Republican runoff election that will be held this Tuesday, March 31, at polling locations across the county.The races to be decided include Cleveland County Judge between Stephen McClellan of New Edinburg and Jim Houston of the Rye community; and Arkansas Secretary of State between Kim Hammer and Bryan Norris.There are no local runoff elections from the Democratic primary.Since the Republican party has a closed primary election, only those voters who participated in the March 3 Republican primary can vote in the runoff, or those who did not vote at all in the primary or voted only a nonpartisan ballot. In other words, those who voted in the Democratic primary will not be eligible to vote in the Republican runoff.Early voting is currently underway and will continue weekdays through Monday, March 30.
