Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Duncan Andrew “Andy” Thomasson, U.S. Army, passed away peacefully April 4, 2026 at his home in Richmond, Virginia.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Andrew Thomasson and Martha Ruth Thomasson. A native of Rison, Arkansas, he was a graduate of Henderson State University, a Freemason, and a man of strong faith.
Andy is survived by his wife, Jan Biggers Thomasson; daughters Kristi L. Thomasson, Mikki Thomasson Evans (husband Chris), and Lexi Thomasson Aman (husband Neil); grandchildren, Frank Davis Evans, Chase Andrew Evans, Parker Anderson Aman, Charlie Grey Aman, and Cooper Andrew Aman; great-grandchildren Frank Evers and Kade Kenneth Evans; and his sister, Tina Thomasson Hoskins.
Andy honorably served 20 years in the United States Army, including service during the Vietnam War, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Throughout his career, he was awarded honors recognizing his leadership and dedicated service to his country.
While proud of his military career, Andy’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished his roles as husband, father, brother, and especially Grandaddy, and treasured time spent simply being together. His quiet strength and love will be remembered always.
Andy will be laid to rest at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
