The Cleveland County School Board approved issuing $13.1 million in bonds to fund a new gym at Rison School, following voter approval of a 6-mill tax increase. After paying off existing debt and fees, about $11.5 million will go toward construction, supplemented by $2.7 million in state partnership funds, bringing the total project budget to roughly $14.2 million. The board also approved pay raises for classified staff, a third-grade reading “Boot Camp” tied to state promotion requirements, and staggered six-year terms for board members. Additional actions included personnel changes, technology purchases, facility funding updates, and reports on student progress and audit findings.
